P90X Workout Journal

There are 3 versions of the P90X workout program, the LEAN, CLASSIC, and the DOUBLES versions. I chose the LEAN version because my goal was not to bulk up but instead lose fat and build lean muscle mass.

Month One Overview:

Well, I made it through the first month of the P90X workout program and I lived to tell about it. I took my BEFORE and AFTER pictures along with my measurements which wasn't that much fun but you have to start somewhere. Pictures tell a thousand words so be sure that you do this before you start the program. YOGA X, I must admit is shockingly hard. I assumed YOGA X was going to be a rest day but boy was I wrong! After 90 minutes, I realized how in-flexible I am and how much I need to work on this area of my fitness.

I am a litle sore and stiff getting around but I will KEEP PRESSING PLAY. I did purchase the P90X supplements and boy am I glad. The Results and Recovery Formula is awesome! My favorite P90X routines this month were Shoulders and Arms, and Kenpo X. . Least favorite, Ab Ripper X! I'll let you decide for yourself why that is!

I can definitely tell a difference already in my strength and overall energy levels. I also recruited a workout partner to help keep me motivated and on track. Having someone there to encourage you along the way is definitely something I enjoy. I looked forward to my rest week on the 4th week but it is still very challenging. Core Synergistics is another great program but I find it hard to keep up as I do not have the core strength yet to complete all moves. It all takes patience and persistance but I will be able to do them as I progress.

I am doing my best with the nutrtion plan but I have had some set-backs along the way. The weekends are the most difficult for me as my husband and I enjoy eating out but I am making healthier choices that I was a month ago! I like the fact that it is a high protein diet but it also emphasizes "healthy carbohydrates" which I love. Results during first month are 5 pound weight loss with 3 total body inches down. Wahoo!

Loved the first month overall; can't wait to start the next 30 days!

Month Two Overview:

Week 5 was a killer P90X workout week but I so excited about the progress I have made thus far. Month 2 starts with a whole different schedule of workouts with a brand new one called Chest, Shoulders, and Triceps. I could only do about 2-5 reps of the hardest exercises (Ex. one-arm pushups) and Tony (P90x Trainer) says that's OK and as time goes on, I will be able to do them.

One of the most noteable differences this month was my ability to do more of the Ab Ripper X exercises without having to take break as well as the abilty to do more push-ups off my knees athought I still have to do them often. I am still not able to do pull-ups on the pull up bar so I am using resistance bands (draped over a door) until my upper body is strong enough.

From my 30 day photos, I could see more definition in my stomach as well as smaller hips which like most women, are my problem areas. Also, my jeans have started to fit less snug in and around my hip areas and my bicep muscles are beginning to show! I couldn't be more happy with the results thus far. 60 days has flown by so quickly and I anticipate so will the final 30 days of the P90X workout program. I have not lost any weight but I tend to gain weight when weight training. I dont' care what the scale weighs as long as I am looking and feeling good and losing inches!

 

Month Three Overview: P90X Graduate!

During the final 4 weeks of the P90X workout, I will get to add in two new workouts--Chest and Back as well as Back and Biceps. The greatest part about this program is the variety and I think that is what keeps me going in addition to the results. Some of my dress shirts that I wore before starting P90X were getting too small and now, they fit so I won't have to go buy new shirts now!

Due to the holiday weekend (Memorial Weekend) I missed my first workout, Kenpo X and I felt terrible because in 70 days I hadn't missed a workout but I moved on and did an extra cardio workout. I have noticed a huge difference in my "arm flab" because of the extra upper body workouts this month.

I have really enjoyed the focus in this area but really miss the Legs and Back workout. I was really seeing a huge difference in my backside and thighs when doing this program once a week. Yoga X has been a struggle to get motivated for as well partly because my work schedule has been more dedious than the first few months.

Week 13 came and went and I can now call myself a P90X Workout Graduate! I have thoroughly enjoyed this home fitness workout and the results I have experienced. My total weight loss was 10 pounds and 7 total body inches are now a thing of the past! Below you will find my final 90 day photos so you can see that I actually did this program.
