Understanding the P90X Fitness Guide
Following the P90X fitness guide is crucial to your success. This is the black booklet that includes how to get started, outlines the different versions of the program (Classic, Lean, or Doubles) and provides a detailed description of the exercises in the workouts. This is helpful for people who want to follow the program at a gym or while traveling in a hotel.
Of course if you don't have one, it is tough to follow it and get the same results.

P90X Program Versions
The three different versions outlined in the fitness guide include:
Classic: is a great start for people who really want to build more muscle mass. There are a few more lifting days compared to say the lean version of the program and I would recommend this version to people who don't have much weight to lose and would like to build more muscle mass.
Doubles: a great workout for athlete conditioning and people who have the time to perform two workouts a day. You start by adding in an extra cardio workout 2-3 days a week. P90X recommends Cardio X but you can do any type of cardio workout to perform the doubles program.
Lean: After starting the P90X Classic version, I decided to change to Lean because to be honest, I was a weenie, and wasn't strong enough to do the first day's workout. I also had more weight and body fat to lose and noticed that the cardio was a little more intense going this route.
