How Many Calories Are In....

The best way to determine how many calories are in the foods that you consume is by purchasing a calorie counting book. These books are inexpensive tools that help you identify the calorie, fat, and carbohydrate information for your favorite foods.

Some restaurants do provide you with this information but sometimes finding it online or in their locations can be quite difficult. It is much easier to find the nutrition information by carrying one of these great calorie counting books with you instead.

Calorie King Counter

Here are a couple tools that I have found very helpful over the years in determining how many calories and other nutrients are in foods. 

The first calorie counting book that I recommend is called Calorie King book. I love the fact that it is small and compact but has all of the nutritional information I need to stay on track. It includes facts for every single item that you can possibly think of including hundreds of popular restaurants including fast food.

I carry this booklet with me everywhere I go and make healthy decisions even on the go!  These books are updated each and every year so that you know you have the most recent nutritional data available to make healthy decisions. I have two of them because I keep one in my car as well as one in my purse so that I know I always have it handy, ready to help me make healthy decisions.

Calorie King Food Journal

Another great resource that I use in addition to the above book is a food journal also created by Calorie King. This is a great tracking tool to help you stay on track with your calories, fat, and other nutrients you wish to monitor.

It also provides you a place to keep track of your daily fitness workouts by tracking calories burned and duration of your workout. It is the same size as the Calorie King booklet so taking them both with you on the go is very easy.

Portion Control

While keeping track of how many calories you are consuming, you must pay close attention to portion control.  Understanding the difference between a serving and a portion is huge which is why using a food scale is so very critical to your success.

Take the guess work out of knowing how many ounces or pounds your food is and invest into one of these awesome tools. I purchased the EatSmart Digital Nutrition Scale that also includes a food journal as well. (click on image to learn more from Amazon.com)
